Luyando Foundation shining stars community school was not spared with the effects brought by Covid19 with the social distancing in every classroom set up in any private, community or public school.
These health guidelines brought mixed feelings to the school management with the fact that the structure of the Luyando School does not accommodate a big number of children with the addition of grade 7 preparation. This was a serious challenge that saw Luyando Foundation and school leaders quickly seek permission and consent from the landlord to put a one-room simple structure to accommodate the grades 5, 6 and 7. This, however, has had less impact as the room was still congested and this has proved a difficulty for volunteer teachers to teach children in and prepare for the examination class.
Teaching during the COVID19 guideline at the Luyando School
The volunteer teachers managed to put a temporal structure for grades 5,6 and 7. Plastic papers and traditional mats were used as roofing for shade making on top of the roof for children to have a safe environment.
Exams were written for the first time at Luyando School
Luyando Foundation brings real hope and help to less privileged children and women.
Luyando Foundation shining stars community school had her first-ever eleven (11) grade seven (7) children successfully sit for their 2021 final examination. This was a great achievement for the Luyando Foundation. This was a historical record and a huge accomplishment for the foundation.
Our proud first-ever Grade 7 Luyando School children came running to share their experience during their first-ever attempt at the Examination Council of Zambia to Miss Martha, the headteacher, and teacher Mutinta, who had to guide them all the way. They couldn’t hold on to their happiness after seeing their students complete their exams without the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
